John R. Ruehle II, CPHIMS, MBA, has over 37 years of experience in Information System Technologies, Sales and Strategy consulting. He has applied his expertise to multiple industries, including Healthcare, Distribution, Manufacturing, Transportation, and Communications, with Healthcare being his primary focus.

John’s background includes 18 years with IBM; where his sales and consulting teams helped various hospitals, and other organizations, design and implement strategies critical to their success.

John has been a special consultant for the American Hospital Association (AHA) in addition to consulting with state associations on member and state issues. He has helped large national organizations develop regional strategies, as well as assist small companies develop strategies to take advantage of their niche.

John was the Acting CIO for a West coast hospital, over a 24 month period, where he oversaw the redesign of the IT infrastructure, replacing significant portions of their application portfolio, and implementing a new EMR system with CPOE. John also developed policies and processes that saved the organization over $2.1 million in expenses. In addition, John has been the Acting CIO for a Midwest hospital where, over an 18 month period, he helped realign the IT department with the strategic goals of the organization and helped locate, and hire, a permanent CIO.

John completed a 14-month assignment as the Scrum Master for the HIMSS task force on developing standards for Cloud Computing in the healthcare industry. HIMSS recently published his co-authored work.

John has completed countless Vendor Selection Processes for hospitals over the past two decades and saved his clients (both small and medium size hospitals) millions of dollars in contract negotiations.

He was recently part of a 6 person team that developed a new certification testing for healthcare standards in a partnership between Bellevue College and HIMSS.

John is trained in HIPAA Privacy & Security Risk Analysis, and has completed some 36 assessments for various healthcare organizations around the country.

John recently completed his MBA, and received his CPHIMS certification. He is an ex-combat veteran as a Sniper with the U.S. Marine Corps, and has served on the Oregon Board of Directors of the Make-A-Wish Foundation and as a Board member for the Home for Battered Women in Riverside, California. He recently completed his 9th year of service as an assistant Scout Master for a local Boy Scout Troop.
